Transforming a Century-Old Gem in Avon-by-the-Sea: A Complete Exterior Renovation
This stunning project in Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ showcases J.A.Y. Construction’s commitment to expert craftsmanship and high-level historic renovation. The home—over a century old—presented both architectural opportunity and construction challenges. We began with a complete exterior redesign of the main home and its detached garage. Every window and door was replaced with Marvin new construction units, offering energy efficiency while preserving classic coastal charm. For the façade, we installed James Hardie clapboard siding as the primary finish, paired with solid AZEK trim along every corner, window, and architectural accent—delivering crisp, clean lines with long-lasting performance. Across the front elevation, we installed NuCedar PVC shake in a custom diamond pattern, adding timeless texture and a handcrafted aesthetic.
One of the highlights is the custom-molded solid PVC soffit paneling on the wraparound porch, complemented by custom architectural brackets by Eastern Architectural Millwork—a detail so bespoke it deserves a tag on social media. The roofing system combined both beauty and durability. We used GAF Camelot II asphalt shingles with copper open valleys for a high-end, weather-resistant finish.
For added elegance, we installed copper standing seam metal roofing on the front barrel roof and the upper dormer. This was finished with half-round copper gutters and decorative rain chains, blending form and function with a luxurious coastal look.In the rear of the property, we built a brand-new AZEK Vintage Collection deck in Dark Walnut, finished with an RDI vinyl railing system, offering a low-maintenance yet beautiful outdoor space that blends seamlessly with the historic feel.This Avon-by-the-Sea renovation is a perfect example of how J.A.Y. Construction transforms century-old homes into architectural showpieces—preserving the past while upgrading for the future.
